Improve the quality of life for older people in the
community.
- Facilitate the development and the expansion of
services for young people.
- Establish a Community Transport Scheme in order
to ensure that all communities in the CDPs area can
avail of services and activities within the area, the
county or the region.
- Support the community and the voluntary activity
in the CDP catchment area.
- Develop NW Roscommon CDP as a learning organization
that reflects and reviews its activities, policies and
procedures and which is inclusive of local communities.
MABS
Money Advice Bureau
Roscommon
Money Advice Bureau hold a monthly service in the CDP
office in Ballaghaderreen in the morning of the first
Thursday of every month. Call in for advice or ring
MABS in Roscommon to make an appointment on 0906 627811.
NorthWest
Roscommon
CDP is part of a National Community Development Programme
which aims to support our local communities. CDP are
funded by the Dept of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht
Affairs. There are a total of 175 projects countrywide.
While NorthWest Roscommon CDP now have an office and
staff , the VMC (Voluntary Management Committee) have
worked extremely hard over the past three years to secure
the funding for the project. NorthWest Roscommon CDP
has a catchment area that includes Castlerea with a
population of 2,689, Ballaghaderreen with a population
of 2,319, and the villages of Ballinlough, Loughglynn,
Lisacul, Cloonbonniffe, Gorthaganny and Fairymount.
(The total population for the CDPs area is approx 8,276).
These figures are taken from the 2002 census. Of the
total figure 36% are over the age of 65 and 27% under
the age of 18 years.
CIS
Roscommon Citizen Information Services hold an outreach
service every Wednesday from 11-1 pm and 2-3pm at the
offices of NW Roscommon CDP. This service is free and
confidential and a wide range of issues are covered
including Consumer Rights, Employment Rights, Social
Welfare, Taxation and Disability Information. You may
also ring the office to speak to their information officer
any Wednesday on 094 9862565 or you can ring the Roscommon
office 090 6627922. We also have passport forms, provisional
licence forms and application forms for a driver theory
test.
