Nursing/Convalescent Homes

SONAS HEALTHCARE private nursing homes are deeply committed to ensuring that residents receive the necessary care that will enable them to reach and maintain their highest practicable level of physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being.

People who are admitted to our care do not leave their personalities at the door, nor do they lose their basic human need for respect, encouragement and friendliness. All individuals need to retain as much control over events in their daily life as possible. Our staff always respect the dignity of each individual resident. We are sensitive to the fact that many residents go through a difficult adjustment period and every effort is made to ease the stress of both resident and family.

On any given day Caremark deliver personal assistance and care to the highest international standards to over 6,000 people in the UK and Ireland.  Operating since 1993, with a quality record second to none, Caremark’s newest office in Roscommon caters for clients throughout counties Roscommon, Longford and Westmeath.  The company already has carers in place covering all towns and rural areas in the Midlands.

Lana McArdle, Care Manager of the Midland office is a highly experienced in this profession.  She says, “Selecting a home care provider is an extremely important decision. Your care provider will be coming into your private world… your home.  You'll want to find professional and trustworthy people that you feel comfortable with, people who will respect the dignity, rights etc of your loved one”.

“Many people aren't aware that they have the option to stay within their own community."  Enthusiastically she states that “Caremark promotes independence, not dependence.  We fit into the individual's environment, not the other way around. We always take the client's lead.  In order to achieve this we methodically draw up quality care plans tailored to the person’s needs with the main aim of enabling them to live with independence and dignity in their own home.

Caremark offers a highly confidential quality service. This is a professional, accessible option for caring for your loved one in their own environment.  The fee structure is affordable and very simple.  Tax relief of up to 41% can be claimed.

Lana goes on to say that "People's needs don't stop at 5 o'clock.   People don’t suddenly become healthy during weekends and revert back on Monday morning. Depending on the person’s needs, we deliver care from a half hour to 24 hours per day, 365 days a year, including Bank Holidays and even Christmas Day.   We also have a two-hour rapid response system”

All carers go through Garda vetting and reference checking.   There is in-house training and induction. Caremark also provide one to one training specifically for each client. Carers are matched to the client by experience, specialist training and location.  Carers are insured to transport people if required. They are continuously supported by a strong supervisory team. A new carer is supervised for their first three visits and with every new client the carer is accompanied for the first visit, ensuring the care needs are interpreted correctly and that the client is comfortable with the carer. There is a structure of ongoing supervision and spot checks. Caremark constantly review the carer’s performance and of course the client’s changing needs.

Lana continues…….”We meet with the family and the other relevant health professionals as required.   Then we make sure the client's care needs are being catered for. If required we will report progress to the Public Health Nurse, the GP, physiotherapists etc."
