Ballaghaderreen Tidy Towns Plans for 2010
Ballaghaderreen Tidy Towns are actively planning the development of a number of projects in the town for 2010.
DEVELOPMENT OF 'THE PLOTS'
The area known as the ‘Plots’ will be developed and entered under the Wildlife and Natural Amenity area of the Tidy Towns Competition this year. It is hoped that this will increase the overall points for the town. The Committee plan to organise scheduled clean ups from March onwards and these will be posted in the local press. We would encourage as many people as possible to assist the committee on these days.
ST. PATRICKS DAY PARADE
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be organised again this year by the Tidy Towns and the theme for this year is ‘Monumental Moments 1910 – 2010’. So time to get the thinking caps on for your floats!
'SOLAS' FESTIVAL 2010
Furthermore, due to the success of our ‘Solas’ Festival last year the committee are already planning a bigger and better event for 2010. Dates for the Diary are weekend of the 20 – 22 August, 2010. Please spread the word.
RECENT BAD WEATHER
The committee would like to ask people to be patient during the current weather we are experiencing. Some refuse collections are not being made due to very bad road conditions and we would ask that people do not try to dispose of waste themselves, but to continue to recycle and reuse where possible.

Finally, The A.G.M. of Ballaghaderreen Tidy Towns Committee will take place on Tuesday January 12th at 7.30pm in The Abbeyfield Hotel. We are inviting and indeed encouraging all members of our community to come along and get involved in some aspect of our organisation whether your interest is in the Tidy Town Clean Up, the St. Patrick's Day Parade or the Solas Festival.
The Committee would also like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support over the past year and look forward, with your help, to developing and improving the town even more in 2010.
